Short-listed companies for 2010 Green awards announced

The finalists have been announced for the 2010 Green Awards, with a shortlist consisting of a diverse range of companies and organisations from across Irish society.

Construct Ireland has been shortlisted for two awards at the event, which will be held at the Burlington Hotel on 11 March. The magazine is a finalist for the green communications award along with Belvedere House Gardens and Park, Dell Exposure Media Services, Greenme.ie and Weee Ireland. Construct Ireland editor Jeff Colley is up for the green leader award along with Citi head of facilities Paul Boylan, Greenbusiness.ie project director Kara Flannery, Siemens CEO Dr Werner Kruckow, Vintners Federation director Sean Redmond and Vodafone Ireland CEO Charles Butterworth.

SEI announces 2009 sustainable energy award winners

The retail and telecoms sectors were the big winners at Sustainable Energy Ireland's sixth annual awards in Dublin last Friday, with Dunnes Stores, Heatons, O2 and Eircom each taking awards at the all-island event.

The awards aim to highlight "excellence in business energy management", and this year included entries from over 100 organisations.

Construct Ireland nominated for 7 Irish Magazine Awards

Construct Ireland has received seven nominations for this year's Irish Magazine Awards, the most nominations of any business magazine. Only Hot Press received more nominations across all categories.

Green shoots at EcoBuild and Plan Expo from 3 to 5 November

This year’s Plan Expo, Ireland’s largest building exhibition, will take place at RDS Simmonscourt in Dublin from Tuesday, 3 November to Thursday, 5 November. Green building is at the heart of this year’s event: the EcoBuild exhibition of green building suppliers will take up almost half the floor space, while a first-time conference entitled Rebuilding Ireland will explore the role that green building and architecture can play in Ireland’s economic recovery.

Open House Dublin 2009 to showcase green buildings

The Irish Architecture Foundation has announced its fourth annual Open House Dublin event. Over the weekend of October 8 to 11, buildings in Dublin selected for their architectural quality and interest will be open to the public.

Energy event to show Irelands green economy in action

150 Irish and international exhibitors and over 4000 Irish energy professionals are expected to descend on Dublin’s RDS on 29 and 30 April at the Energy Show, according to Sustainable Energy Ireland.

Market opportunity to improve housing stock energy efficiency

SEAI shifts focus to deep retrofitfit with conference & pilot scheme

The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland has announced a new €5million deep retrofit pilot programme for 2017 projects to upgrade inefficient buildings to an A3 rating or better – with a particular emphasis on ventilation, airtightness, thermal bridging, interstitial condensation and preventing overheating. Grants are available to cover between 50 and 95% of the costs of deep retrofit works for different categories of participants.
